With the season wrapping up over the weekend, we have a week off to digest and see who is going to be awarded with an All-Australian selection.

But first, let's get into the finals predictions:

The ladder finished up looking like this:

Richmond continued their dominance after last year's premiership, and they were clearly the best team in the competition.

West Coast continued to play well after losing Nic Naitanui and Andrew Gaff, and with two home finals they will be hard to beat.

Collingwood seemed to have clicked and found their "system". Decimated by injuries all year long, they continued to win big games and that's a sign of a genuine contender.

Hawthorn seemingly were thereabouts until a strong finish to the season which has them now on everybody's mind.

Melbourne broke their finals drought and now have a chance to go one step further in their development. They are arguably the most exciting side in the top 8.

Sydney are interesting. They have a blend of premiership experience and strong youth coming through. The question is, can the young players stand up in finals?

GWS endured a second straight year with horrific injury luck. With a full list, they are easily the most talented team in the competition. Nevertheless, I still expect them to be a strong finals contender.

Geelong were inconsistent but with their hall of fame talent, you'd think they can at least make one more push to premiership glory.

Here is my bracket for the finals series:

I think Richmond deserves all the credit. They play an exciting brand of footy and hunt their opposition with no sign of complacency creeping in from last year.

This is a tough exercise.

A squad of 40 will be cut down to a final squad of 22 on Wednesday night. 

Before that, the AFL website allow you to try your luck in picking the final squad with some cool prizes up for grabs.
