The Nigeria National Basketball Team (D'Tigers) are in high spirit as they get sets for the 2019 FIBA World Cup coming up in China in less than 48 hours. D'Tigers went all out to win their first ever peak invitational tournament as they came from behind to defeat Montenegro.

D'Tigers won the 2019 peak International invitational tournaments with it's 89-86 victory over Montenegro.

D'Tigers last appearance at the FIBA World Cup was in 2006.

So it's great to see them back again at the world stage.

Guards

Benjamin Uzoh

Age: 31 years

Position: Point Guard

Club: Caballeros de Culiacán (CIBACOPA)

Benjamin has played for the National Basketball team at the 2013, 2015 and 2017 FIBA AfroBasket tournaments and also at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Ike Iroegbu

Age: 23 years

Position: Point Guard

Iroegbu played college basketball for Washington State University.

He represented Nigeria at the 2017 FIBA AfroBasket where D'tigers won silver.

Josh Okogie

Age: 20 years

Position: Shooting guard

Club: Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA)

Vincent Nnamdi

Age: 23

Position: Guard

Al Farouq Aminu

Age: 28

He has represented Nigeria in the 2012 Summer Olympics Games and 2015 AfroBasket.

Position: Small forward / Shooting guard.

Ike Diogu

Age: 35 years

Position: Power forward / Center

Current Club: Shimane Susanoo Magic (B.League)

Ike Diogu has represented Nigeria in 2012 and 2016 summer Olympics and also in 2015 and 2017 AfroBasket.

Ekpe Udoh

Age: 32 years

Position: Position Center / Power forward

Current Club: Beijing Ducks (CBA)

Chimezie Metu

Age: 21 years

Position: Power forward

Current Club: San Antonio Spurs (NBA)

Center

Michael Eric

Age: 31 years

Position: Center / Power forward

Club: Kirolbet Baskonia (Liga ACB).

Eric is the son of former Goalkeeper trainer, Joe Erico.

Nwamu, Deji and Alade were the three players that couldn't make it to the final list.


The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will begin on Saturday, 31 August and ends on Sunday, 15 September, 2019 in China.

Nigeria are in Group B alongside European side Russia, South America side Argentina and Asia counterparts South Korea.

D'Tigers will play against Russia on matchday 1 at the Wuhan Gymnasium , Wuhan come 31 August, 2019.
