Having small players on the international basketball game is the number one problem of the Philippine team. Despite that problem, they are still playing and want to win a championship using their speed, skills, and teamwork.
According to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters will be playing for the Asian Games with coach Yeng Guiao because the Gilas Pilipinas Team still need to regroup their organization because of the brawl between Philippines and Australia last FIBA Qualifiers.
Coach Yeng Guiao believes that having some good big men on the court is what they need to win the Asian Games that will be held in Indonesia.
Two 6-ft-8 players were added to the Rain or Shine team and these players are Christian Standhardinger from the San Miguel Beermen who is still playing on the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals and also John Paul Erram from the Blackwater Elite.
ASI Taulava, a 45 years old veteran player from NLEX Road Warriors, will also be playing and join the Rain or Shine with a height of 6-ft-9.
There are 5 total big players on the Philippine team with the two already on the Rain or Shine team, Raymond Almazan and Beau Belga with a height of 6-ft-8 and 6-ft-5 respectively.
The Gilas Pilipinas team captain Gabe Norwood will still be playing and lead the Philippine team to succeed.
Kobe Paras and Ricci Rivero from the Gilas cadets will also join the Rain or Shine team. These two best friends want to win a championship for the Philippines as they will be playing for the Philippines as a team for the first time.
And here are some shooters and guards from the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters that will complete the Philippine team: Maverick Ahanmisi, Chris Tiu, James Yap, Stanley Pringle, Paul Lee and Don Trollano.
The team will start practicing for the Asian Games this coming Monday.
