A match between Philippines and China is one of the most anticipated game in Asian Games 5x5 Basketball category. Since both teams do have NBA players, in China national team Zhou Qi of Houston Rockets and Ding Yanyuhang of Dallas Mavericks while in Philippines Jordan Clarkson of Cleveland Cavaliers. We all know how much quality does an NBA player can give out on this kind of tournament. With their experience and deep training, we would be expecting some quality basketball play towards these players.
During the opening quarter, China's Zhou Qi won the jump ball but it was being turnover which gives Erram JP of Philippines an early three-point lead and then followed by Jordan Clarkson's two-point after a jump shot made inside the paint area. But a retaliation of China Team being shown after Wang Z's one free throw success. After that Zhou Qi shown himself that he is on fire which he successfully made a three-point shot after a good assist from Liu Z. That three-point didn't give discouragement to the Philippines where they try to make some reply with a two-point shot by Pringle of Philippines. After a tied score of 7 - 7, Sun M's layup and Zhou Qi's three-point shot give them the first quarter lead. China who has the most advantage in terms of height, always get some fouls from inside where they easily go for some free throw attempts. The first quarter ended with a 12-20 which China still on the lead.
In the second quarter, Philippines tries to close the gap where Standhardinger and Clarkson really into offensive pace but still China's Zhou Qi still in the heat with his three-point shots. Their score ended with 31-36 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Jordan Clarkson really heated up where he made some three-point that made the Philippines and China tied at score 55 - 55. But China won't let the Philippines get the lead, Zhou Qi and his teammates working more on their defense while shifts aggressively on offense. China manages to take the lead in the third quarter 57 - 59.
In the fourth quarter, Pringle exerted a good offensive effort, where it helps the Philippines tied again with China at 74 - 74. And for the very first time, the Philippines made the lead after Stanhardinger made two successful shots in free throw after being fouled by Abudurexiti of China. Zhou Qi closes the gap with 76 - 75 with his one successful free throw shot. Each team has used much of their timeouts and that the game becoming too crucial after they tied at 80 - 80 with a remaining time of 00:46. Zhao R of China made two successful three throws which take China into the lead. At the time of Philippines offense, Dalistan PJ tries to go for a three points attempt to have a sure win but it misses. It was around 00:06 remaining when China grabs the rebound while China killing the time. China won the match with a close score of 80 - 82.
It was really an awesome game that both the Philippines and China have shown and I am sure that somewhere in the main bracket the two teams will face again.
