It was a great fight for Philippine Team to be able to suppress Qatar on their explosive three-point shots. At first, Qatar manages to lead the Philippines in a two-digit gap during the first quarter after several successful three-point shots from Qatar and while the Philippines still on finding their rhythm. The Philippines tries to counter with some three-point attempts but failed. In second quarter Philippine still catching up and the same thing happens Qatar still continue to increase their gap with a 39-52 in favor to Qatar.
It was impossible to believe that the Philippines made a good recovery and amazingly closes the gap little by little in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter after a couple of missed shot attempts from Qatar and some successful three-point shots and free throws, Philippines take the lead with 67-64.
The only option for the Philippines to maintain the lead is to focus on defense and efficiently guard three-pointers not to have a better position on their shooting attempts while working on their offense. The Philippines really turn the tide in the 4th quarter, where I can see some Cabagnot, Belga, and Aguilar in action.
The Philippines was not able to perform in their best condition in the early quarters but they have changed their form and manage to put some good field goal points and free throws in the late quarters. Both Philippines and Qatar are equal in terms of rebounding but the Philippines has most of the advantages when it comes to steals and assists.
Alexander Jr Cabagnot of Philippines leads the Philippines to win with his impressive 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. But even Qatar lost their game against the Philippines, Mohd Yousuf Mohmmed of Qatar proves how much he put effort into his team and put most of the score for Qatar with some several assists and rebounds. China won against Jordan after they manage to make a comeback in the later quarters after suffering a huge gap scoring in the first quarter. China did really make sure that they will get to win this time so they could increase their ranking on their next match again Syria. Even if China failed to qualify in the qualification rounds, still China will get a free pass to FIBA World Cup.
