Main reason is scoring. Basketball has the most scoring out of all major sports and its fun to watch because of it. In all other sports its very possible to go 15 mintues with out scoring in basketball it really isnt in fact its pretty rare for both teams to even go 5 mintues with out scoring as the high rate of scoeing attempts which also makes the game intresting. Basketball is much faster paced than other major sports which in turn is resulting in other sports trying to speed up the pace of the game to keep up. Also basketball is composed of 5 starters which is low for other major sports so its very easy to see your favortie player in action very often which also makes it intresting.
By major sports i am talking about American football, soccer and baseball..
