It was a really boring Saturday in the Belgian Jupiler League with only matches from playoff 2. I waited all evening to find a good betting spot and went a bit too big when finally finding one very late on the corners market. It ended up losing and costing me a bit over a unit. The 3 matches on the program today should all be a lot more exciting.
Anderlecht vs Standard
This is one of those matches where I don't really understand the odds to the extent where it scares me. Both teams are not exactly in great form, but Anderlecht in my view is worse off compared to Standard. Normally Anderlecht would have nothing to play for with the 4th place being out of reach virtually. There is still a chance that both Mechelen and Waasland relegate due to match-fixing which would give spot 5 a match against the playoff 2 winner for a final European ticket. Standard still fights for the 3rd spot which would give them some extra weeks vacation and the could use a win. So having Standard as a +0.5 underdog does not make all that much sense to me. Anderlecht lost against Club Brugge in a match where they were slightly better than expected while Club was slightly worse than expected. They have been playing rather defensively and have a very hard time to score goals. Standard coach Preud'homme was not really happy with the performance of some of his star players (Carcela & Mpoku) and put them both on the bench last match. I do like the visitors in this one but only took a small-medium bet on Standard +0.5 @ 1.95. The Anderlecht team total under 1.5 also tempts me. I will mostly wait it out live and see how this one goes before getting involved more.
AA Gent vs Club Brugge
If AA Gent would have taken the cup victory I would be all about opposing them in this match. Now they still have something important to play for as mentioned above because the 5th spot might still grant them a European Ticket (which is their goal this season). The downside is that they simply have not been playing all too good lately and I don't see why it should turn around all of a sudden. Club Brugge are 3 points clear of Antwerp and 9 behind on Genk who they play against next week. This means they can potentially get it down to a 3 point gap with 2 more matches to go. I'm not sure how much they still believe they can take the title. They also don't manage to reach their peak level in every match. So this match is anyone's guess how it will play out and I'm hoping for the live picture to make things a lot more clear before getting involved betting wise. No Pre-Game Bets
Moeskroen vs Zulte-Waregem
I really like the Zulte-Waregem Team total over in this match as the main objective of the visitors will be to make sure Harbaoui gets to be the top striker of the league. Moeskroen completely lost if after having an excellent end of the regular season and seem to mostly have their mind on vacation. I would not be surprised if this one turned into a very open match with chances on both sides as the visitors will go forward. I am on Zulte-Waregem Team Total Over 1.5 @ 2.00 and Zulte-Waregem +0.5 @ 1.85 and hope to be able to manage my overall exposure and take a lot more live in this match if I can see the match picture confirmed.
