I try to keep informed of the projects that offer Sports betting on a blockchain and make an overview of news, listings, price evolution,... on a consistent monthly basis. This is what happened in September 2019!

News Overview

Nearly all sports betting coins continue to get hammered to the point where many feel completely dead. (Augur -20% | Wagerr -40% | Peerplays -32% | Bethereum -28% | Scorum -40% | Betterbetting -53% | Blitzpredict -28%).

Degens.com

Degens.com is pretty much a rebrand of Sportcrypt which is a decentralized p2p betting exchange on Ethereum that I had listed below in these monthly posts for a while. I guess it's facing the same issue as nearly all sports betting crypto projects which is a lack of actual users. This along with gas fees that are involved on a slow ethereum makes traditional bookmakers currently still the better option.

Wagerr

So after some initial struggle, I managed to install the wagerr electron app and restore my wallet with my WGR still being in there properly. Wagerr is not something I personally would use currently simply because I have access to Sportmarket Pro which has better odds and doesn't put my funds at risk based on price fluctuations. I do however have to give some props to the wagerr team.

  • Odds got adjusted and now show true odds instead of 'the odds before 6% commission' which for me is a huge step in terms of transparency.
  • The system seems to have gotten adjusted where it's now no longer possible to get crazy odds because lines on regular books got moved by whale money while Wagerr was way behind on that.
  • They understand how volume is key and make that very clear keeping track of it clearly setting it as a goal.

The odds seem to be close to what pinnacle is offering in most cases, and for people who are restricted from regular bookies and want to bet anonymously, it is actually something of a valid option now.

Scorum

I'll be making my post on Scorum along with a new prediction contest tomorrow. The project feels more dead than ever despite betscorum still having some users (see betscorum September Results).

The Scorum Price of 0.009874$ will count toward the Scorum Price Prediction Contest. The winners will be announced along with a new contest on Saturday.
