Today's boosts see 2 fixtures in the Champions League as well as a genuine 6 pointer at the bottom of the EPL. Juventus take an away goal back to Italy and will be favourites to do the business at home. United have overcome stiffer odds than this already this year to make it this far, can they do it again? While 2 sides having a terrible run of form battle it out for their right to stay in the top flight. It promises to be a fascinating evening of football ......
Juventus vs Ajax
First up we have an interesting fixture between Juventus and Ajax. Most people would have understandably considered this an easy pass to the semi-final for Juventus, but Ajax have shown that they’re up for a fight and proved this when they sent Real Madrid packing from the competition that they’ve dominated for the past few years.
Juventus have enjoyed an uneventful season so far and are currently sitting in 1st place in Serie A on 84 points, a whopping 17 points clear of 2nd placed Napoli. It could be said that the quality of Serie A is lacking and, while that is almost certainly true, Juventus are showing that they mean business in the Champions League. After a scare in the previous round, Ronaldo once again popped up to get the job done and this is probably the only reason why they’re still in the competition. They have home advantage here but need to be careful that they don’t get sucker-punched as Ajax will be looking to grab a couple of away goals that would make things tricky.
Ajax were never expected to have much of an impact on this season’s Champions League but have done themselves proud by knocking out last season’s winners to put an end to their streak. Up against Juventus, they’ve been dealt a tricky hand but an equaliser on home soil made things interesting going into this second leg. Still, as we saw when Juve blew away Atletico in the 2nd leg at home they certainly have enough firepower to put this game to bed.

Barcelona vs Manchester United
Next up is a fixture between two massive clubs in Barcelona and Manchester United. With Real Madrid out of the picture, the Spanish behemoths will be gunning for a taste of glory this season. However, a resurgent Manchester United are looking to restore some pride by becoming this season’s next giant killer.
Barcelona were uninspiring in the first leg of the fixture and looked almost jaded at times. It’s clear for all to see that this isn’t the all-dominating team from a few years ago, but they certainly have enough quality to punish any team on the planet when they find their groove. A 0-1 victory away from home will be seen as a massive result considering the level of performance but it has left the tie wide open. We all saw what happened to PSG when Manchester United visited with a 2-goal deficit to their name.
Manchester United will feel that they are still in this fixture, but they need to look much more threatening up front if they’re serious about making it to the next round. The first goal, from either side, could be massive here and it feels like Manchester United need to score first to have any chance of progressing. Barcelona are likely to be more impressive on home turf so Manchester United will need to make sure that they’re solid at the back. We have already seen this year that they are perhaps more effective against teams that overcommit themselves and allow them to break. I don't think they'll have enough to win the tie but the odds of them getting a draw are still very attractive.

Brighton vs Cardiff City
Things couldn’t get much more exciting in this Premier League fixture as both teams are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table. With Cardiff City in 18th place on 28 points and Brighton in 17th place on 33 points, this result could play a massive role in deciding who will be relegated at the end of the season.
Brighton are coming into this game on the back of a 3-game losing streak that includes the 5-0 humiliation at home to Bournemouth this weekend. Lose here and they could be looking at the drop by the end of the season, but a win would send them 8 points clear with a game in hand. The hosts must start brightly in order to get the crowd behind them because otherwise the negativity that was obviously evident during their capitulation in the South Coast derby will come flooding back into the Amex Stadium.
Cardiff’s time in the Premier League could be coming to an end if they don’t win this game. An 8-point gap is almost certain to be too much to make up, but a win here would put them within touching distance of safety. Nevertheless, Cardiff’s form is dreadful and it’s hard to see them having the courage to go out and win away from home here. Perhaps the best form of defence is attack for the Welsh side and we are backing them more in hope than expectation of keeping things interesting at the bottom of the league.
