Why is PSV Eindhoven the favorite?

PSV is top of the league with 58 points, two more than Ajax and 15 more than Feyenoord. Their goal difference is +58, whereas Excelsior's goal difference is -22, they are currently 14th in the ranking. PSV has only lost one of their lost 14 away matches, which was against 3rd ranked Feyenoord. Eight of those 14 matches were away wins.

Why is Vitesse the favorite?

Vitesse is currently ranked 5th, NAC Breda is 18th and last with only 17 points, five less than 17th ranked De Graafschap. Why is SC Heerenveen the favorite?

Despite the low league ranking, Heerenveen did not lose in their last four matches. They scored nine goals in those four matches and they recently drew against PSV (2-2) and Ajax (4-4). With 49 goals so far, they are the 3rd highest scoring team in the league after Ajax and PSV. Willem II played the semi-final of the cup on Thursday. They won, but they had to play 120 though and passionate minutes of football, as well as a nervous penalty shootout. They are on a losing streak of three matches in the Eredivisie, which is partially due to them losing their top goalscorer Fran Sol in the January transfer window.

Despite Groningen having one point less in the rankings they are in a better form. They lost only once in their last seven matches, which was against leader PSV. Why is AZ Alkmaar the favorite?

AZ lost the semi-final in the Dutch Cup against Willem II and will be highly motivated to take revenge for that loss. They are only three points behind Feyenoord in the ranking and would like to aim for the 3rd place in the league. AZ won their last four home matches scoring 13 goals, conceding only one. Fortuna Sittard started the season really well and seemed like a solid team to stay in the league. Recently their results have been very poor, which means they now have to look at avoiding relegation. They conceded 16 goals in their last three away matches, scoring just one.

Why is Feyenoord the favorite?

Feyenoord's situation is similar to AZ's situation. They also lost in the semi-final of the cup. They didn't play extra time and a penalty shootout. Still, Feyenoord is the strongest home team of the league, winning 14 of their last 15 matches, losing against Fortuna Sittard in December on an off-day. They will have to show motivation and dedication towards their fans. They recently won 6-2 against Ajax and 4-0 against De Graafschap. FC Emmen has been promoted from the 2nd tier last season and were expected to struggle badly. Yet they find themselves in 16th place out of 18 clubs.
