Yes!! The 2018 Scorum Sports Quiz is finally here. As you may know, I have been working on this for about a month. On Friday I finally finished everything and I was ready to upload everything this weekend. Then, out of nowhere, my computer crashed and I had to reboot it. By the time that was done, I wanted to re-open the Excel sheet with questions, and I was shocked, angry and disappointed at the same time. For some reason the file suddenly was corrupt, and I could no longer use it. I tried to recover the document, but unsuccessfully. Luckily I saved the first part of the document a while ago in my inbox of my email address. This way I was able to recover about half of the questions, but the other half is still gone at this moment. The plan was to launch the quiz in three parts anyway, but I was hoping to be ready by now. It will take me another bit to put parts two and three together, but part one is now up and running. The main lesson that I learned is that just saving documents often is not enough, you also need to have backups.

About the Quiz

The total quiz exists of 102 questions. Each of the three parts contains 34 questions and will have a time limit of 17 minutes. This means that on average, you will have 30 seconds per question.

In case you answer quicker than 30 seconds, you will have more time to answer the other questions. If you take longer than 30 seconds, you will have less time to answer the questions that are remaining. In my opinion, 30 seconds is enough to read and understand the question, think about it and make a choice.

It is not enough to copy the question and Google the answer. You might be able to do that a few times, but you probably won't be on time to answer all 34 questions within 17 minutes. It's up to you how you want to play in the end.

All questions are multiple-choice, which means there are three wrong answers and one correct answer. The questions will appear in a random order, the order in which the possible answers appear is also random.

Please note that depending on your screen resolution the questions might fit completely in your screen. If that is the case you might want to zoom out your screen temporarily, or you would need to scroll up and down.

Rules

  • You are allowed to use Google if you want, but keep in mind that the clock is ticking, and you will most likely not be able to finish the quiz.
  • You are only allowed to play each part of the quiz once. The leaderboard shows exactly how often someone has played the quiz. Once it says you played it more than once, your score won't count. If you want to test the website before taking the quiz, take one or more of the other quizzes available.
  • Don't use the "Play Showdown" option, but only the "Play Quiz" option.
  • Once you are done, please comment below with the nickname you have used on the website of the quiz.
  • You are not required to upvote in order to participate.

Donations

As you may remember, my first announcement was that this was going to be a quiz in which you could win 100 SCR. After that announcement, @cayelispor53 donated 10 SCR to the prize pool. I then added another 40 SCR myself, but I added it as free bets that can be won to place bets on Betscorum.

Later on, I received another three donations, 10 SCR from @talesfrmthecrypt, 20 SCR from @hassan, as well as 7 SCR from @kolumbus. Thank you so much, guys!

Those donations brought the prize pool up to 147 SCR + 40 SCR Free Bets. Now that looks a bit weird, so I decided to add another 13 SCR myself, making it 150 SCR + 50 SCR Free Bets.

Example

The example below is not part of the quiz itself.

It is here to show you what to expect. Basically, you will see a picture representing the question, followed by the question itself. Below the question you will see four answers, of which one is correct, the other three are wrong. When clicking on one of the options you will see either a red or a green color appearing, indicating if you were right or wrong.

At the end of the quiz, you will be able to scroll through the questions again if you want. You do that by using the "Prev" and "Next" buttons underneath the questions. These buttons will only appear after you have answered all 34 questions.

How to win? What to win?

As described above, there are 102 questions divided over three parts of the quiz. Each part contains 34 questions. There is 150 SCR in prize money, and there is 50 SCR worth in free bets to be won.

  • 5 SCR goes to the winner of quiz parts 1, 2 and 3.
  • 30 SCR goes to the combined winner of the three parts.
  • 25 SCR goes to the second-ranked person after the three parts.
  • 20 SCR goes to the third-ranked person.
  • 16 SCR goes to the fourth-ranked person.
  • 10 SCR goes to the fifth-ranked person.
  • 8 SCR goes to the sixth and seventh-ranked persons.
  • 6 SCR goes to the eighth, ninth and tenth-ranked persons.
  • 5 SCR Free Bets go to the persons ranked 11 to 18.
  • 5 SCR Free Bets go to the two people with the least correct answers after the three parts, with a minimum of 20 correct answers.

Basically said, we will have 20 guaranteed winners, as well as 3 bonus prizes for those who win each part.

Yes, but Fraste, I don't have any liquid SCR to place a free bet on Betscorum.

Tie-breakers

What if two or more people end up with the same score?

In such situations, we'll play tie-breakers, until we have a clear separation between the two participants. Tie-breakers will be additional quizzes which will exist of two questions per person participating in the tie-breaker. Each person will have the opportunity to tell me one or two sports of their choice. I will find questions in those sports and whoever is the winner of that quiz will be the winner of the tie-breaker. If the score is equal after the tie-breaker, we'll continue until we have a winner.

The quiz is hosted on a website named Sporcle.com, and if you are interested, there are thousands of other quizzes for you to play on there. If this turns out to be a success, I will be happy to host more quizzes in the future.
