Boxing Day fixtures have arrived with plenty of action in the Premier League, Serie A as well as a few other divisions. The fixtures for today are quite difficult to predict so I am sticking to just 3 bets but might consider some later on depending how the first two matches turn out.
Premier League - Manchester United vs Huddersfield
Pick - Over 2,5 goals @ 1,660
- The appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sparked a resurgence in Man United’s attacking front after putting away 5 goals at Cardiff on the weekend.
- Manchester United has seen over 2,5 goals in 83% of their games this season.
- United returning to Old Trafford with Solskjaer will be wanting to put on a show for the home fans to match their newly gained form at Cardiff.
- Man United are unbeaten at home for their last 6 matches with 4/6 of those matches being over 2,5 goals.
- Huddersfield have only won once away from home this season while conceding 17 goals in 8 matches.
I see united winning quite comfortably at a margin of possibly 3-0 or more. They had few defensive issues againest Cardiff, one of which being the penalty, but are likely to score easily againest a poor scoring and defenseless Huddersfield.
Premier League - Burnley vs Everton
Pick - Everton to Win @ 1,950
- Everton have had poor away form in their last 6 matches (1W-1D-4L). These losses, however, were to Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal while drawing 0-0 with Chelsea.
- Burnley won the last 2 encounters between these teams but this was when Burnley were in strong form and Everton were struggling last season before Marco Silva’s appointment.
- Burnley concede on average 1,88 goals at home this season.
- Burnley also have many injury concerns, such as Gudmonsson, Brady, Lennon, Defour and Pope while Everton are only without Gueye.
- Richarlison and Sigurdsson will be looking to exploit weaker opponents and hopefully take a second away win this season.
Everton should be able to overcome Burnley in this fixture with their many attacking options. Burnley’s struggles this season with defense and attacking threat will be a chance for the Toffees to take 3 points from Turf Moor.
Serie A - Torino vs Empoli
Pick - Torino to Win @ 1,735
- Torino have made one of there best starts to a Serie A season in years. This is mainly due to their strong defense that kept Juventus to only scoring one against them and the likes of AC Milan being hold to a goalless draw.
- Empoli, Serie B 17/18 Champions, have struggled defensively returning to the top division and have conceded the joint most goals this season (33 in 17 games).
- Empoli have failed to keep a clean sheet for 14 games now in Serie A.
- Empoli are, however, a goal threat and scored the second most goals (22) behind Genoa (25) in the bottom half of the table this season.
- Empoli have not lost to Torino in their last 7 matches. All matches were prior to 17/18 season and teams have developed in their own way since then.
On paper, Empoli appear to have the upper hand but looking at Torino’s strong defense, I think they will be able to hold out Empoli to win 1-0.
Monday’s Super Lig Action
Monday saw very few fixtures on ScorumBet with only the Turkish Super Lig taking place. I had eventually placed a bet on a Antalyaspor Win or Draw againest Fenerbahce. Luckily, the match held out to a 0-0 draw and my bet won. Fenerbahce had dominated the entire game and I thought it was likely for them to break the deadlock in the second half. They unfortunately received a red card for one of their defenders in the last 15 minutes which allowed Antalyaspor to attack a bit more but with only 4 shots during the match, Antalyaspor was never destined to win the match.
Many tipsters on Scorum had taken the over 2,5 market and I myself was also tempted but luckily with the analysis I had decided against it and was able to double my stake on Monday.
