It's Finals time at the Australian Open and today we have the ladies' final to look forward to. Kvitova and Osaka have been played well in order to get to the final so it's unlikely we have a one-sided game today.

Kvitova starts off as the slight favorite today and with good reason. She hasn't dropped a set all tournament. Kvitova has had a great start to 2019, winning Sydney before storming to the finals here in Melbourne. As a testament to how well she's playing, she has played nearly two hours fewer than Osaka, with most of her matches lasting only an hour. Definitely going to be fresh for this one.

As for Osaka, in reaching the finals in Melbourne, she becomes the first woman to win her maiden US Open and then follow it up by reaching the finals at the next major. Osaka's aggressive baseline play brings back memories of early Serena but she will need more than that to overcome an intelligent player like Kvitova.

Can Osaka handle a leftie like Kvitova? While i don't have any statistics on her H2H against lefties, she did lose her last match against a leftie, which was against Kerber at the WTA Finals last year.

Given her leftie side-spin and composure in Finals, i'm going to back Kvitova today. She has been unstoppable all tournament long and while Osaka has the athleticism to pressure Kvitova into rushing her shots and not allowing her to get into position, i think Kvitova's alternating flat strikes and leftie sidespin will be able to throw Osaka off as well.

Pick: Kvitova @ 1.807
