Top versus bottom today in the NBL. Sydney Kings had been on a roll leading into the new year going five straight wins to ensure they stayed top at the start of 2019. Since then, however, the wheels have come off a bit with losses against defending champs Melbourne and a recent loss to Illawara.

The Taipans on the other hand are dead last. The rest of the league's pretty close and then there's the Taipans miles below at the bottom. That said, they just had an impressive win over Brisbane on the 3rd of January and are looking to build something having gone 14 losses in a row.

This same fixture happened just before Christmas with Sydney winning by a comfortable 11 points. Sydney's Andrew Bogut's in a bit of an online feud over his MVP credentials recently and he ought to be up for this or the critics will be coming out of the woodwork. To be fair to the critics, while he's an NBA champ, he's no Steph Curry.

Ultimately, the bookies seem to be discounting the Kings because they've had 2 days less rest, coming off a loss and are playing away. For me, the difference in quality between the two teams is pretty big and should overcome all that. Getting 1.4 odds on a top v bottom situation looks pretty good and i'll put some on the handicap for a little bit extra.

Pick: Sydney Kings -3 @ 1.605
