Chelsea will travel to Amsterdam tomorrow to face Ajax in the UEFA champions league group matches and it is really going to be a tough test for Frank Lampard side who are currently doing well in the league by winning the last 5 matches and while it is really going to be a bigger test for them is the fact that Ajax are yet to lost a game this season in all competition and they also have a strong record at home since may. Although these are the two clubs that was tipped to make it out of the group but the Blues lost their first game to Valencia before defeating Lille to renew their hope of making it out of the group while Ajax on the other side are still maintaining the 100% performance in the group by winning all their two matches so far in the group.

Chelsea this season have prove to many people that they can actually fight for any competition with the way the team has been rebranded by the former club players and the way the manager has make the young players in the team to come out to show to everyone reason while they deserve to be in the team. Player like Abraham will be a player to watch in that game and Ajax must really be careful in their defense line if at all they want to get any point from the game because the Blues are very sharp in the way they attack the opponent so far this season aside from the fact that they are still working on their defense line. Ajax also, despite selling most of their star players that took them to the champions league semi final last season are still maintaining their stand in the competition and they still have a player in person of Tadic who is really doing well for the club too in the false nine role.

Ajax

Ajax are yet to lose a game in the group by winning against Lille and Valencia and will also be looking forward to maintain the 100% performance and for the fact that they will be at home will also have maximum support from their fans. They don't really have much injury update ahead of the game and their manager Erik ten Hag will be glad to his left back player Nicolas Tagliafico back to his line up from a suspension in the league but players like Bande and Eiting will still be absent due to injury but the manager have a lot of option in his selection. It is possible he didn't change his game plan and still make use of the 4-3-3 formation which has been working perfectly for him. The team has been keeping a clean sheet since their last 4 games now and it is really going to be interesting if they can continue with it against an attacking minded Chelsea side.

Chelsea

Despite losing their first game in the competition to Valencia at home, the team has really bounced back to the game with a win against Lille which actually placed them on the 3rd position in the group with 3 points respectively with Valencia and a win against group leader tomorrow will go a long way in sending them to the next stage of the competition but it is not going to come easy against a side who made it to the semi final last year and are still doing well this season. Chelsea has really improved on their game winning their last 5 matches with lot of young players doing well in the team but they may likely be without some of their top players for the match due to injury. The likes of Kante, Barkley and Emerson remain a doubt for the game but having a player like Hudson-Odoi who has been spectacular for the team since returning to the team from injury is another good news for the club.

Possible Line Up

  • Ajax

Onana, Dest, Veltman, Blind, Tagliafico, Van de Beek, Promes, Martinez, Ziyech, Tadic, David Neres

  • Chelsea

Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Marcos Alonso, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Willian, Abraham, Hudson-Odoi

Prediction

This game is going to be an open game between both clubs tomorrow and another avenue when we can actually get to see the best of some young players in both team and with the fact that Chelsea has failed to score in just a game in their last 12 games, it will really be hard for Ajax to keep a clean sheet against them and on the other side, Ajax are yet to concede a goal in their last 4 European games which may actually make the game a game where we may not really witnessed a lot of goal. I will say the game is a 50/50 game for both teams and may eventually end up in a draw.

My Tip

Draw or Under 3.5
