I just read that the Las Vegas Golden Knights have partnered up with William Hill US, which is the world's largest sports book operator. Seems fitting that a team from Las Vegas would make such a move, but it got me thinking. . .hmm. . .what do they have in mind with a partnership of this type?
The first thing that comes to mind for me is the incorporation of a sports book within the stadium which allows fans to make in game live wagers just as they would at a regular sports book. This would add a whole new dimension to rooting for your favorite team and it would bring in a boat load of revenue for the organization. I really can't think of any other reason an NHL hockey team would want to partner with a sports book, unless they were going to start offering wagering at their games.
As more and more states start to legalize gambling this could be a major trend if the Golden Knights partnership proves to show profits, which it obviously will if they do plan on offering wagering at the games . .. They didn't officially announce that this is what they have planned, but it seems obvious in my honest opinion. . .Sports gambling is here to stay and with the choice of legalizing sports wagering now left up to the individual states, the revenue is probably going to be too much for most states to pass on as time goes by.
The flood gates are opened and it's only a matter of time until NHL, MLB, NFL, and NBA teams start capitalizing on the opportunity if they live in a legalized sports wagering state. . .Time will tell. . .So far, it's looking like the Golden Knights are going to pave the way. . .We'll see what this partnership turns into . .
