The second match day of the second round of the German Bundesliga is coming up and I've decided to place another bet at Betscorum.com again this time. If we at Scorum don't use our sports betting platform ourselves, how can we promote it convincingly?
And exactly for this reason I have looked at the bets available at Betscorum.com for today's matchday together with the odds to pick out an interesting and promising game. And then I came across the following fixture , which I would like to explain in more detail in the following.
Hertha BSC Berlin against FC Schalke 04
Both teams belong to the long-established teams in the Bundesliga and have an eventful past behind them, which of course also includes relegations and times in the 2nd Bundesliga. The heydays of both teams have been over for a while now, although they still want to belong to the top teams of the Bundesliga.
Hertha and Schalke both started the second half of the season with wins, but the first half was quite different for both teams and Schalke in particular has been chasing their own expectations for a long time.

How is Hertha BSC?
In the 18 games so far they managed 7 wins, but also had to accept 5 defeats. With 27 points Hertha still remains close to the places which would qualify them to play internationally next season and they don't want to miss this goal again. That's why the 3:1 away win in Nuremberg last week was so crucial in order to start the second half of the season with a positive impulse.
A look at the home table shows that Hertha has lost only once in their previous 8 games at home, but already managed to leave the field as the winner 4 times. So far about 50,000 spectators come to each home game in the Berlin Olympic Stadium and this huge fan crowd should make sure that the Hertha players will enter the game with a lot of drive and energy. Coach Dadai's team is facing a very important test in which almost all the players will be on board.
And Schalke 04?
The first half of the season was rather a time to look the other way, Schalke has already lost 9 games in the Bundesliga. All the more important was the 2:1 victory against VfL Wolfsburg last weekend to finally ring in a positive trend. But if you look at the away table, you can clearly see that Schalke has not been very successful in other stadiums so far this season. In 9 games to date Schalke has only won 2 matches, yet 4 times the team from Gelsenkirchen had to accept defeat.
But Schalke won the last away game in Stuttgart at the end of the first half just before the winter break, and that's exactly where the team around coach Tedesco wants to continue. It remains to be seen how the internal turmoil of the last few weeks has affected the team spirit and whether they will really discover something like harmony and a sense of new a beginning.
In the 70 matches of both teams against each other Hertha has won 24 times, Schalke 34 times. After 11 games the points were split between the two teams. Hertha could win the first leg this season in Schalke 2:0, but in the last match in Berlin Schalke took all 3 points with them home.
What are the odds?
As always, we take a look at Betscorum.com and there you can see that the chances for both teams to win are pretty even.
If you would bet on a home win of Hertha BSC, there is are odds of 2.71 and an away win of Schalke 04 gives you slightly higher odds of 2.89
Even with a draw, the odds are just a bit higher at 3.31, a strong indication that there are no clear favourites in the game.
Due to the situation in the Bundesliga table and the season performances so far, I see Hertha BSC in an advantage, not least because the Berliners will play in front of their own fans. I am therefore predicting a victory for Hertha BSC, but I think it will be a very tight game.
The bet:
This is my third bet so far and I will put 10 SCR on a Hertha win. For me this fixture offers good odds and looks like a quite interesting betting opportunity.
It is not a clear match at all, both teams could have a chance to win but as explained before I am going with Hertha BSC this time.
