The fight against Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is targeted by British welterweight Amir Khan.
Manny Pacquiao has just won a duel counter Lucas Matthysse at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Sunday (15/07/2018).
Pacquiao won a technical knockout (TKO) in the seventh round of 12 rounds and won the WBA world welterweight world-class belt.
After the fight, Pacquiao said Amir Khan could be his next potential opponent. It got a positive response from Khan who also noted had been his practice colleagues.
"All the time I said I would fight this guy (Pacquiao), but it never happened," said Amir Khan, quoted by The Sun.
"To be honest I'll just relax and do this fight one step at a time, if it's Pacquiao then I'll fight, otherwise there are lots of other good fighting out there," he said.
After two years of vacuum boxing, Khan made a comeback by fighting against Phil Lo Greco at Echo Arena, Liverpool, England, April 21, 2018.
In the duel, Khan won victory. Despite having a good relationship with Pacquiao, Khan claimed no problem fighting with him.
"It could be a big money-making fight, but it all depends if Pacquiao's side are willing," Khan said.
Pacquiao is a great fight, I've been practicing with him for years, but sometimes you have to fight with your friends," he said.
"I think it will be an explosive fight, I think it will be a great fight," Khan added.
