When Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his fight with Japanese kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa, I knew it was a farce immediately.
Floyd has a habit of announcing ridiculous bouts that make no sense to cause some riling and garner attention to himself, so when I saw the press conference actually happening I was stunned!
I couldn't believe Floyd would even lower himself to fighting a man under 125 pounds in a pure boxing match where Tenshin would be at an immense disadvantage in not being able to kick.
Floyd on returning home announced that he was duped by the Japanese organization Rizin as this bout was supposed to cater to a few 'massive' investors... and the fight itself was supposed to be a privatized bout for only the donators themselves.
I can't entirely blame Floyd in this scenario as he is 40 years old, and the risk of Japan duping him in fight wouldn't be worth it.
Japan did hold the exhibition between Ali and Inoki, but Ali actually had to courage to try and handle leg kicks. Ali was the only man who risked everything for greatness, and that is why he is eternally the GOAT... but that is for another time.
Japan duped boxer Trevor Berbick who was heavyweight champion at the time into fighting Nobuhiko Takada, a Japanese kickboxer.
Berbick had agree to 'US kickboxing' rules which allowed head kicks but nothing to the legs or strikes below the waist. As you can see from the video below, the first strike thrown was a leg kick.. and the rest of the fight was a catastrophe.
I still believe the above [fight in video] was completly staged, and Floyd's ego would never let shenanigans like this occur.. especially when his precious 50-0 is at stake.
Do you blame Floyd for not accepting this arrangement, or is Mayweather simply fool-proof?
