Hello everyone, Chimzy back again with the continuation of the Ali vs Frazier fight… this post will be all about the fight between the two great boxers…

THE FIGHT:

The moment the whole world was waiting for was about to begin… to many, they were not mere human, but great champions.

These two men hated each other so deeply and in the locker room before the fight, Frazier prayed and ask for god’s help to kill Ali in the ring…

In the ring, the two fighters squared off and they both yelled threats at each other… and Ali promised that it the fight was going to be an easy one.

The Bell Rang – The Fight Began:

The first two rounds, Ali was already on the front foot and looks as if his promise to destroy Frazier was already taking shape and was actually going to be an easy fight for him… Mohammed Ali had his plans even before the fight began and that was to keep Frazier in the center of the ring and not to dance around… while punishing Frazier with powerful and effective punches.

Ali also had his defensive plans which were to nullify Frazier’s landing punches… As Frazier moved close enough to land a punch, Ali would move laterally or tie him up and turn him and trying to regain the center of the ring. But the plan still had it difficulties… because, for the plan to work, Ali needed to consistently catch Frazier who for most people, had one of the best defenses in the sport of boxing… greatly, Ali was able to catch Frazier with some clean punches and was able to read his erratic rhythm and had the reflexes and speed to take advantage of the small gaps he found.

During each round, the two fighters fought with raging words and also with their fist. The crowd roared as punches came from all angles and both fighter trying to capitalize on any lapses they could lay their hands on.

At the end of the third round, Frazier had walked back to the corner because his efforts were to no avail and his punches hadn’t done any real damage to Muhammad Ali.

Over the last three rounds, Frazier technique improved drastically and it really should have given Ali a huge concern…

Each time Ali tied him up, he releases tight body shots. Over the years, Frazier discovered that sometimes it is best to go with the movements of the opponent. What Frazier did was to pull his hand back whenever Ali tried to release his punches and take advantage of the small openings.

As the fight went on, Ali had done the impossible and had gotten into Frazier rhythm, but Frazier learned Ali timing and always found a space and use it as his defense.

Both men exchanged punches upon punches but due to Frazier ability on the defense, he repeatedly caught Ali by surprise. The first three rounds saw Frazier build his foundation for his techniques and all his efforts were going to be more visible in the fourth round.

The fourth round began:

Ali was enjoying most of this and kept was punishing Frazier, keeping him circling at the center of the ring… but wasn’t all about that, as the round was going deeper, Frazier was able to land a clean punch that really destabilized Ali. But Frazier didn’t just stop, he kept on releasing shots upon shot on Ali ribs and body making life difficult for Ali and showing making him realize what he had signed up for. They were both heading to the fifth round.

The fifth round began:

This time, Ali was on the front foot… he landed a very powerful shot on Frazier that would knock out many of his opponents… But Frazier was able to take it and kept moving toward Ali, this time, Ali knew something strange was going to happen, he could feel it and could see the confidence in the eyes of Frazier. This round was fairly even as Frazier also had his fair share of solid punches.

Round six began:

The round the Ali predicted the fall of Joe Frazier. Ali has been known for getting his predictions right against his opponents, but this time, he got it completely wrong.

Without any playing around, Frazier was already on it and drove Ali to the side of the ring and driving in powerful shots at him and catching Ali with a thunderous strike punch on Ali’s face. A punch that made Ali feel paralyzed. This moment, saw the crowd cheer Frazier and Ali knew all he needed to do was to try and survive and at least extend the fight into the next round using that opportunity to recover and see if he can get another win.

Seventh round began:

In this round, Ali was able to regain some strength and he was able to land a perfect shot on Frazier, but the sad news to Ali was that all his efforts were taken in by Frazier and this really made Ali to be exhausted.

Round eight saw everything Ali feared started to surface… His last reservoir of energy was almost gone, his spent most of the round laying against the ropes and trying to tick away time and was hoping for a careless mistake from Frazier, but Frazier was smarter than that and controlled his emotions to the fullest. Frazier was still in full gear, he disengaged Ali from the ropes and released powerful punches packed with a lot of horsepowers. The punch kept on coming and not giving Ali any breathing chance at all. This round was all about Frazier.

Round 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 saw Frazier on the front foot, but Ali was never giving up so cheaply. Ali fought like a lion and pushed the fight to the final round.

The final round:

This round saw both men extremely exhausted, but Frazier still had enough gas to keep pushing and make sure he finishes what has already begun.

This round saw the both of them throwing everything at each other, it was basically all-out attack and no need for defense. This was all about punch vs punch.

One of the eyes of Frazier was almost completely closed and Ali had a jaw swollen like the belly of a sea lion… this round was the round of death. They kept on landing in punches at each other but Frazier was more energized and more determined to see this through.

He literally wanted to knock Ali out. He kept driving at Ali and basically allowed it to be a hit me, I hit you contest. He didn’t care, all he cared about was to see Ali fall to the ground.

Ali, as smart as he is, immediately saw an opening and released a punch and hoping to catch Frazier, at the same time, Frazier released his own punch with every remaining energy he got, leaping off the ground and as both men’s punches were coming, Ali punch wasn’t accurate and at the same time saw Frazier’s thunderous punch catch Ali on the jaw, it was so powerful that Ali couldn’t handle it. The whole world witnessed the fall of a great fighter. Ali smashed to the ground. Frazier was undoubtedly the champion.
