For me personally, this would have been a great boxing match considering how great those two were in their early boxing career, they were both fast and awesome.

So I say this is really a tough call. Quarry was a tough competitor, and a great counter puncher. But I give it to Cooney. The big guy had a good left hand whether throwing the left hook, or jab. I look at how easily he destroyed Ken Norton inside of a minute in the first round, and how he held his own for 13 rounds with Larry Holmes. At that point in his career, he was easily, by far, the second best heavyweight fighter.

Also, his left jab was probably just as good as Holmes's in their fight. And Holmes has the best left jab in all of boxing history. Cooney is probably the most underrated heavyweight from that era.
