Hello guys, Today I will be talking about this Boxing great from Italy, as you already, I do make posts on some unforgettable boxers and this person right here fits the category, His name is Primo Carnera and he is nicknamed the "El Ambling Alp". He was born on October 25, 1906 and was an Italian boxer, he is best known for his fast move and jab despite his gigantic stature, he still has the Ability in the ring, he is a world heavyweight champion from 1933 to 1934 and was very popular in his time, he even inspired an Italian cartoon character: Dick Fulmine. Carrera was from Italy and he is very popular amongst the people because of his huge stature and probably his best behaviour after fights, From the little research I know of him, it was said that Carnera was going to be an unusual character, since he weighed no less than eight kilos at birth which is very surprising to many from his region and I guess growing up must have been so very hard for him because it was also in his bio that Carnera soon dropped out of school and acquired the trade of a carpenter. In 1924, at the age of 18, he was 2.05m tall and weighed more than 125Kg. On that date he emigrated to France, where he worked in a circus in the role of strongman. There he was discovered by a veteran boxer, Paul Journée, who proposed that he be a boxer.
Once convinced, he introduced him to Leon See, a Parisian promoter, from whose hand he started boxing. His style was crude and lacking in all technique, but his devastating punch soon made him famous in the main European capitals where he performed. Thus, he undertook his trip to the United States and when the mafia, which controlled boxing at that time, came to see a gold mine in Carnera. With proper propaganda, he fought nearly 30 fights in a single year, all of them against second-rank fighters or bribed to win. He soon began talking about tongos, but Carnera's fame was on the rise, until his career was cut short by a boxer named Jim Maloney. Maloney was a good fighter, unable to get high due to a weak jaw, but his good knowledge of boxing was enough to inflict a humiliating defeat on Carnera.
It was totally a disappointment for Primo, after his loss to one of the best Boxer of that era, it was like a failure to him as he thought he was already a great boxer and could box anyone and win easily but not what it seems to be as he returned to Europe and it was there he devoted completely to boxing, He took boxing classes to polish his weak points and fortunately, he got the chance to box again and this time in Barcelona, Spain, with Paulino Uzcudun, whom he defeated by decision.
Carnera retired from boxing in 1946, and began practicing American wrestling and starred in brief strongman roles in Hollywood movies. He passed away from cancer on June 29, 1967 in Sequals, Italy. All Sequals were present at the funeral procession. He was gone a good man. Not in vain did his compatriots call him the "Good Giant". It should be remembered that the 1956 film, "The fall will be harder", which denounced corruption in the world of boxing, starring Humphrey Bogart and whose role was his last appearance on the big screen, was inspired by the boxing story of Beef.
