Another month ends and as September arrives, anticipation grows bigger amid tasteful expectation for this is a hot month in Boxing, so grab your seat folks and get the beer ready to properly say goodbye to summer and let us see what the Boxing Gods shall bring to the table.
September 8 - Amir Khan Vs Samuel Vargas - WBA Final Welterweight Eliminator
The always talented yet glassed chin Amir Khan (32-4, 20 KOs) will face the little known Colombian Samuel Vargas (29-3-2, 14 KOs) in what is going to be his second fight of the year. This should be a good tune up for Amir who is looking for bigger fights next year.
September 8 - Danny Garcia vs Shawn Porter - Vacant WBC Welterweight Title
In a highly anticipated rubber match Danny "Swift" Garcia (34-1, 20 KOs) will go face to face with the always -peligroso- Shawn "Showtime" Porter. (28-2-1, 17 KOs) This fight promises fireworks all over the place, given the agressive style of these two boxers.
September 15 - Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin - WBA, WBC, IBO Middleweight Titles
This is the fight fans have been waiting for. The crème de la crème will square up for the second time as tension and bad blood abound between these two Top 5 pound for pound Middleweights. Canelo (49-1-2, 34 KOs) will try leave behind all the clenbuterol controversy that has been haunting him for months, while Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) on the other hand will try to prove that he was robbed on their first fight, and this time he will try to Knock Canelo out to avoid any "confusion" with the judges. This is a must see fight which has "fight of the year written all over."
September 22 - Anthony Joshua vs Alexander Povetkin - IBF, IBO, WBO, WBA Heavyweight Titles
Although Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) and his promoter Eddie Hearn have been highly criticized for not making the Wilder fight happen (marinate), we cannot ignore Povetkin's (34-1, 24 KOs) dangerousness. Make not mistake, this fight will be a high level clash. Joshua will try to take another stone out of the way on his way to a super fight next year against Wilder or Fury who are going to fight at the end of the year. Povetkin has a hard task ahead but believe me, he's a live dog. I would not be surprised of an upset though it is very unlikely.
September 28 - George Groves vs Callum Smith - WBA Super Middleweight Title
The WBSS (World Boxing Super Series) finals is finally upon us as the saint of Hammersmith George Groves (28-3, 20 KOs) will exchange punches against a very game Callum Smith. (24-0, 17 KOs) Groves is in a very top form and has a very nice streak on his back, after his defeat vs Jack, he's never looked back. The "mundo" Smith is facing his biggest opposition at date. He is also very confident with his undefeated status.
These are the most important fights of the month, and hopefully they won't dissapoint so expect a lot of action and punches.
