The Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin once again accused of doping to the Mexican Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez before his expected fight on Saturday, on Mexican Independence Day, by the middleweight belt.
Golovkin, current world champion of the category, will rise to the ring of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday in search of his 21st defense of the title, a year after a controversial draw that did not satisfy either of the two.
In principle, both fighters had to be fighting again on May 5 but the fight had to be canceled due to two consecutive positives for Mexican clenbuterol, which was suspended for six months.
"I do not think it was the meat. I do not believe their stories of contaminated meat. Experts determined that it was doping, not contaminated meat. Those stories do not make sense, "said the Kazakh through an interpreter.
The current champion went even further by pointing out that there are photographs in which the marks of the injections are visible.
"Everywhere, in the biceps, the stomach ... you could see the marks all over his body ... but right now it's the last thing I'm worried about. Now I'm focused on the fight, "he added.
Meanwhile, Alvarez denied the accusations of his rival and said they are a way to divert attention in case he loses the fight.
"These are the cries and cries of someone who is drowning. They are the excuses that they are putting for what comes to them on Saturday, which is a defeat for them, "said Canelo.
