Chip 1. Ali’s first move towards boxing was due to the theft of his loved red and white Schwinn bicycle. It was stolen in 1954 and Ali being twelve year old reported this theft to a policeman who trained people in boxing. This policeman advised Ali to learn how to box or fight hence Ali joined boxing. Six weeks down the line, Mohammed Ali won his first amateur boxing match.

Chip 2. Mohammed Ali was originally named after a nineteenth century white farmer who freed the forty slaves he inherited from his father. Ali was named Cassius Clay in honour of him

Chip 3. Mohammed Ali was a critically mean when it came to talking. He would first beat his opponent in the mind before beating him in the ring. He would trash talk his opponents and enrage them… he went notches higher though by adding a sing song tune to it.

Chip 8. Ever watched a match where Mohammed Ali dodged close to 21 fast punches from an opponent boxer under a very few seconds. I think 10 seconds or so. He was in the ring with 19 year old Micheal Dokes. Well, the thing is, Ali developed this speed by dodging rocks. He asked his best friend to throw rocks at him and it was said that he dodged every single rock thrown at him.

“The name Muhammad is the most common name in the world. In all the countries around the world – Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon – there are more Muhammads than anything else. When I joined the Nation of Islam and became a Muslim, they gave me the most famous name because I was the champ.”

Probably the world would not see a boxer like Mohammed Ali or maybe the new Mohammed Ali is yet to be born or discovered. Mohammed Ali’s impact on the boxing world can not be over emphasized. He is simply sensational in the ring.

RIP MOHAMMED ALI
