Among the world boxers from the US, Jack Dempsey is one of the legendary boxers. The style of play has its own characteristics that make it respected and feared by its opponents.

Dempsey began to join in the boxing world since he was a teenager, this was done to get money. His career is very professional, and can be said to be quite brilliant. During his career, Dempsey underwent 84 battles, winning 62 matches, 51 of which were knockout. Dempsey also won the world heavyweight title and managed to defend it for 7 years, which led him to become one of the best known boxers in the world.

Among all the battles Dempsey has played, there is a fight that is most remembered by boxing fans when Dempsey faces the belt holder of the heavyweight world champion, Jess Willard. Both fought to coincide on the anniversary of US independence in 1919.

Statistically, Dempsey is under the world champion who excels from physical posture to playing experience. But that didn't stop Dempsey from fighting amazingly. Relying on speed and tactics, Dempsey even managed to bring down the world champion in the third round and claim the championship belt.

As long as he is the holder of the world champion belt, Dempsey has retained the title five times. Until September 23, 1926, Dempsey faced Gene Tunney in Philadelphia. Although it must end in defeat and lose the world champion's belt, the fight with Gene Tunney was recorded as the most boxing match with the audience at that time, which was 120,000 spectators. Three years before meeting Tunney, precisely on September 14, 1923, Dempsey faced Argentine boxer Luis Angel Firpo in New York. His fight with Firpo became one of the most remembered boxing matches in history, where Dempsey, who was dropped in the first round, turned against Firpo to no longer be able to stand in the second half.

A year after losing the world title, Dempsey got a chance to play against Tunney. At this second meeting, Dempsey managed to knock down Tunney in the seventh round. But because he forgot to return to the neutral angle so that the count could begin, Tunney could get back on his feet. The ten round battle finally had to end with a number calculation and the jury decided the victory was in Tunney's hands. After the match, Dempsey retired from boxing.

On May 31, 1983, Dempsey reportedly died from a heart attack. Before he died he also had the opportunity to adopt a daughter with his fourth wife.

Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895, in the Mormon village of Manassa, Colorado. As a boy, he worked as a farm hand, miner and cowboy and was taught to box by his older brother. Dempsey's early prize fights were in mining towns around Salt Lake City but on July 4, 1919, he beat Jess Willard "The Great White Hope," and became world heavyweight champion. He defended his title five times but lost to Gene Tunney in 1926. Dempsey died in 1983.
