Boxing Joana Pastrana will defend the world title on August 4
Joana Pastrana will defend the title of minimum world champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) on August 4 in Malaga against the Costa Rican Yokasta Valle. On March 9 Pastrana won by unanimous decision the Mexican Ana 'La Bronca' Arrazaola in Moralzarzal (Madrid) in his second successful defense of the title. Valle's team reported on Tuesday that when the Costa Rican was ranked number 1 in the ranking, Joana Pastrana was forced to accept the fight for the title. "We are going to Spain and although it is always difficult to win against everything, it is not impossible," the 26-year-old Costa Rican boxer said in a statement. Valle acknowledged that it would be a very difficult fight against the Spaniard, but showed confident in the physical and technical preparation it will undertake and in its conditions to win. "I feel super happy, it's the fight I've always wanted, I've never stopped training, but now we adapt the training to be stronger and faster, this fight I've tasted for years and now it's time to enjoy it," he said. The coach of the Costa Rican, Mario Vega, said that the fight for the title is the result of the great work that has been done in recent years so that Valle could reach the top of the FIB ranking. Last February Valle won Peruvian Valeria Mejía by technical KO in the fifth round and was crowned world champion of the 108 pounds of the International Boxing Association (AIBA). In 2018 Yokasta Valle consolidated the frank ascent in his career and won two important victories against to the Venezuelan Luisana Bolívar and the Mexican Edith Flores. In 2016 the Costa Rican was crowned world champion in the 102 pounds of the AIBA, and in 2013 she won a gold medal in the Central American Games of San José
