Rule: The pawn (♙,♟) moves to one square only but can jump to the 4th rank or square from 2nd rank.

CAPTURE
Pawns move forward, but captures an enemy piece diagonally.
EN PASSANT
En passant works when your pawn is on the 5th rank.
PROTECTION
Defend your pawn with a bishop, but you can also defend a bishop with a pawn. Keep your pieces safe.
COMBAT
Pawns, with the help of a bishop, can defend your pieces from enemy threats.
CHECK THE KING
A pawn can check the enemy king with one move.
PROMOTION
Pawns can be promoted to a queen, horse, rook or bishop when it reaches the 8th rank or the opponent's first square.
