Good Evening to all my friends, from tomorrow its Test Series will start in England tour of Sri Lanka. England was so dominated in ODI series as the won it by 3-1. They also won only T20 and they have shown their class in T20 to and now its a time of Test matches. England is one of strongest team of the current time as of where Sri Lanka is struggling to stand up in International cricket after retired of their big players so let see what is a plan and what their team selection for the 1st Test match.
England
England currently in good form because they just beat Sri Lanka in ODI and T20 in Sri Lanka so it gives a boost to their team to play in Sri Lanka condition and they know their pitch well too. England also beat India which is the toughest team so due to it their confidence also high. its so much interesting to see the team combination of England because Alaister Cook now retired and Bairstow is injured so, in this case, will they give chance to new players. as they are finding opener then its look definitely they will give place to Rory Burns because he is a tremendous player and his domestic record is so good. I not have seen him test matches but yes seen in ODI and T20 and he is a very talented and classy player who is eagerly playing for England. actually, he has to select for series against India but doesn't know why not but now he gets an opportunity so I am sure he will not waste it. Keaton Jennings will be his partner although its tough time for him as he was failed in test series against India.
England middle order looks strong with Root, Stokes, Butler but who know they may give chance to Joe Denly or Olie Pope for one-down. their middle order has a responsibility to perform well because top order and low order do not look much strong as after butler start all-rounder Moeen Ali, Chirs Woakes or else bowlers so England will top much depend on middle order. Moeen Ali is a good all-rounder but not much effective with a bat but yes he can bowl well and Sri Lanka pitch will definitely helpful to spin bowling so he will be a trump card of England for test series. in the bowling department, they have Broad, Anderson, Stone, Curran so it also needs to see that whom they will give chance because currently its look like they will play with 3 spinners as Leach and Rashid with Moeen Ali. according to me, there is no need of 3 spinners as Rashid and Moeen is already in the team so it's better to play with extra batsman Foakes or bowling all-rounder Woakes. so we will get to see what is their final playing 11.
Sri Lanka
its a tough time going on for Sri Lanka as they are not able to perform well on consistence basis but recently they performed well against South Africa in test matches so they have to keep in their mind that they have potential to beat England too. we all know Sri Lanka is not good in ODI and T20 but I think they have a good team for test matches. in test matches, lots of time to come back in the game and they have an extremely good spin bowler who can turn the match in their side. Sri Lanka played well at home and now Mathews back in the team which makes their team much stronger. Dimuth Karunaratne is their top batsman in the test match and he always performed well in most of the matches. I am happy with seeing Kaushal Silva in the team because he is a good opening batsman as I have seen his batting playing against South Africa before 3 or 4 years. the middle order of Sri Lanka is also looking strong with Chandimal, Mathews, Roshan Silva as they can play with Dhananjaya De Silva as an all-rounder. they have good wicketkeeper too Dickwella but need to see where he will bat because Kausal Mendis is not in good form so not deserve to play but we will get to see he will get chance or not before a match.
Sri Lanka bowling line up is not much strong but also can say that not weak too because while they play in Sri Lanka the most of the wickets taken by their Spin bowler and in Spin department, Rangana Herath is lead in it. they also have Dilruwan Perera who is good spinner and wicket taking bowler. in their Squad, 2 more spinners are Akila Dhananjaya and Lakshan Sandakan so what I think is that Sri Lanka definitely play with 3 spinners and the third spinner will Akila Dhananjaya because of his recent form and form of last test series against South Africa. in fast bowling, they have not much strength because their fast bowlers are not a wicket-taking bowler but Lahiru kumara is looking good. the other fast bowler is Suranga Lakmal which is good not an impact player. so Sri Lanka will play with 2 fast bowlers and 3 spinners which I think. Rangana Herath is playing his last match so he will definitely try to best.
Prediction
in test matches, I think Sri Lanka has more chances because of their balancing in batting and bowling. Mathews back in the team as well as chandimal also in the team which makes their batting more stronger. England is good with bowling but without cook and Bairstow it looks little weak. stokes form is also worry for England and there are some new faces will play first time so on that basis I think Sri Lanka has more chances to win but England is also good team so let see from tomorrow that how England perform. the match will start at 10 AM IST.
