According to selectors, They want to give rest for Kohli. As Asia cup will start just after 4 days of England test series. Rohit Sharma was not the part of test team on England test series because of unfitness. So, Rohit Sharma was selected as captain for Asia cup. Also, opener batsman Shikhar Dhawan selected as sub-captain.

It may good decision by India selectors. As you all know Indian team lost the ODI and Test Match series in England. So there is a lot of pressure on Kohli on their captaincy. Because of this, Kohli should rest for a few days. The defeat of England may turn Kohli`s mind in underconfidence. That is why selectors may choose Rohit as a captain. According to Ex- Fast bowler Brett Lee, These two batsmen do their best in Asia cup 2018. Brett Lee said that Rohit Sharma will definitely do well in this tournament. He is captain and as a captain, he have a lot of responsibilities. In this situation, he would be expected to do well. Lee also said, Shikhar Dhawan  will also do well. As Virat is not in the team, so there is a good chance for both players to prove their talent.

Many experts always said that Rohit Sharma have not enough capacity or talent to handle left-arm fast bowlers. This may weak point for Indian team in Asia cup.
