It was a huge pressure match for both the team because one-sided Mumbai Indians have to win the match to qualify for final and also they were playing at their home. on the other side, Hyderabad had to win the match as to remain alive for the playoff journey. The match between both the team was played at Wankhede stadium which was home ground for Mumbai Indians, so Mumbai Indians will take advantage of their ground.
Mumbai Indians were unchanged in their team as they were against Kolkata knights riders and with the loss they face against Kolkata for that they have to win this match at home anyhow. After winning the toss Rohit Sharma decided to bat first as he knows that chasing will be fought at this ground and it was a good choice for him and with they he is the skipper of Mumbai Indians from last 7 years.
Hyderabad has changed in their batting unit as they have to bring Martin Guptill in place of David Warner. As David Warner quit Indian premier league because he has to join the practice session at England for the upcoming world cup. Apart from him Sandeep Sharma who was expensive in the previous match has been rested and given the opportunity to Basil Thampi.
It was a huge match as in the last bowl of the second innings, sunrises Hyderabad needed 7 runs and if they are able to hit six then the match would be a tie and super over chance. Danish Pandey hit six in the final ball and super over takes place and in super over Hyderabad able to score 8 runs and target for Mumbai Indians was 9. Mumbai Indians chase the target in just 9 balls and so qualified for playoffs.
