Who is the king of the T20 series? Well, that question depends on the question who you ask. However, for us, one of the contenders for the throne would be Colin Munro. When it comes to batting, there is surely not many people who would be better than him. So who is Colin Munro? And what is so special about him?

Who is Colin Munro?

Born in New Zealand, he has also dedicated himself to playing cricket in the highest form. He played in the format of limited overs and has become one of the best in the game. He was born on the 11th of March, 1987 and is just 32 years old. One of the reasons why he is popular among the T20 series is because of the records which he holds in the competition. One of them is that he is the first player in the history of the competition to actually get 3 international centuries in the T20 format. That is an incredible feat.

He currently plays for Karachi Kings after he moved from Hampshire earlier in 2018. The very first time when Colin made an appearance for his country in the Test series was a fortunate incident. The main player who was James Franklin had injured himself and could not play against South Africa. From this debut up to 2016, he established himself at the top scorer in the T20 competitions domestically and would eventually replace Brendon McCullum when he retired from the International team.

He is also the second-ranked of all time when it comes to the fastest fifty in 14 balls in the T20 series with only Yuvraj Singh ahead of him in the rankings. While doing this, he also managed to surpass the record which was set by all other countrymen and became all-time for his country New Zealand. The record which was earlier mention and the most international centuries was accumulated after matches against Bangladesh, India and eventually in 2018 held the record all by himself. He would go on to get the bating position for the opening of cricket matches for his team which would cement his importance to the national team.

His achievements for the national team and domestically have not been overlooked. He has been awarded the team of the year award for the T20 series and has also won several man of the match awards. In 2018, he was also among the players who were given contracts by the New Zealand Cricket. The number of players who were privileged to gain this contract were 20 persons in total. The importance to his country would continue to be apparent due to his inclusion in the team that played in the recently concluded Cricket World Cup in 2019.
