How does it feel to be a captain and lead your team to the ultimate glory? Well, not many players know how that feels. The truth is that there can only be so many captains. This is true irrespective of the sports they find themselves in or the number of games that you might have played. For one player, this thought has come true in what must have been beyond his wildest dreams. That player would be none other than Eoin Morgan, the captain of the England team who won the ICC World Cup this year.

Eoin Morgan is not a young cricket player by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, he has been around for a long time. Born in 1986, he is currently 33 years and has captained the English side on many occasions. Remarkably, he has also played for the Irish national team in a career that would surely be filled with a lot of exciting moments. There can be no doubt that he is a captain with quite the record. He is the only captain in the history of England to have 4 centuries in ODI competitions. He is also the first player to score centuries for two separate nations. That is simply fabulous. In 2018, he took his record-breaking feat one step further when he became the English player with the highest run in the history of the country. No wonder that they thought it fit to name him captain.

Having been captain for about four years, it might be quite easy to know how it all started out. After being born in Dublin and raised, he would eventually start his career playing for the youth national side in Ireland. However, it is worth knowing that his mom was an English woman. He soon created the very first record which he would have. He became the youngest player in the history of Ireland to make an International appearance.

However, in 2010, Eoin seemed to have switched allegiance in favor of the English team. He is found stating that from the moment he was a young lad, his dream has always been to play for the national side. That dream he had would come to be fulfilled when he got to represent England in 2009. In that same competition, Ireland would also participate showing clearly where his heart was at the moment.

His decision to play for England seems to have paid off as he has clinched the biggest trophy of his career. In addition, he is the highest capped player in the history of his country which is really amazing. Having made history in both clubs, it would be difficult to suggest that he is anything less than a cult hero right now.

Eoin would go down as one of the best players to play for England and Ireland. As his time in the sport slowly comes to an end, he would surely be happy with how far he has come.
