Old is Gold

Another Super Kings Show, with some old faces performing for their respective sides.

It was Sunrisers who won the toss, and they chose to bat, Sunrisers unlike other matches didn’t get a solid flying start from openers as Bairstow got out early, but Warner managed to provide what he is good in and added another half century in his this year’s VIVO IPL stats.

As mentioned, it was the day for some old faces as firstly Harbhajan Singh who got a place in playing 11 after a few matches trapped the openers and once again proved himself, But a thing that attracted was blistering knock from Manish Pandey who seemed like in his old touch and scored 83 of just 49 which included 3 sixes. Vijay Shankar managed to score equivalent what he is been scoring from past few matches and made 26 of 20 and the team totalled 175 on board, it was good bowling in death overs by CSK that helped to restrict the team that once seemed to score 200.

Like SRH, Super Kings also lost their opener–Faf du Plessis early, courtesy Hooda’s tremendous work. But it was Watson who played a sensational knock of 96 which included 6 sixes and anchored the run chase almost till the end who was given support by Raina who appeared like in old touch played a quickie of 38 in 24 with the help of 6 fours and a six. At the end Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu did the formalities and CSK registered their 8th win of the season and happened to be the first time to qualify for the playoffs in VIVO IPL 2019.

What exited the CSK and their fans more than the victory is being that their key batsmen getting in form at the right time i.e. just before playoffs as CSK were already on the rim of qualifying for the playoffs before this match.

At other end SRH might be a little worried now one reason being obvious i.e. their loss and other being that it was the last match for the second highest Run Getter this season–Bairstow even Warner will be available for only the next match now as both the players have to leave for national duty, but a little sign of relief is that Manish Pandey is in form but still not enough to compensate for this duo.
