Nepal has now entered to the regional selection of 2020 ICC World Twenty20 from Asia along with second place Singapore and third place Malaysia from Eastern sub-regional qualifier. Meanwhile, from Western sub-region UAE topped the table and Qatar is in the second position and both of them are through to the regional finals, while the winner of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait playoff match will be joining them to the regional selection. The top 3 teams from both eastern and western region will play a league match and top 2 teams from Asia selection will be qualified to 2020 ICC T-20 World Cup.

Nepali youth cricketer Sandip Lamichane once again showed his magical bowling for Nepal, which helped Nepal to top the ICC World Twenty20 Asia Eastern sub-region qualifier. In the second inning of final group match of ICC World Twenty20 qualification B at Kuala Lumpur, the rain interrupted the match When Nepal's score was at 1 run for 1 wicket in 0.3 overs. Then rain fell continuously and both teams had to share the point in their final game. In Singapore's first inning, The 18-year old leg spinner Sandip Lamichane again succeed to deceive the opponent batsmen with his bowling.

His bowling contribution again helped Nepal to restrict opposition team in very low total. He took 4 wickets in just 3.3 overs, which helped to restrict Singapore in just 81 runs. Sandip has taken the 4 or more wickets 4 times in this t-20 qualifier. He is the most wicket taker in this qualification with 24 wickets from six games. He bowled 20.3 overs in 6 matches conceding only 57 runs with an economy of 2.78 per over. Another Nepali bowler Lalit Rajbanshi is in the second position behind Sandip Lamichane with 11 wickets from 6 games.

Sandip's superb bowling performance in ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier B at Kuala Lumpur has now set a new national record of highest wicket-taker in a single international tournament. He broke the record set by former Captain and bowler Binod Das and current left-arm spinner Basanta Regmi of 21 wickets different competition. The record was the first set up by Binod Das in 2005, while Basanta Regmi equaled the record in 2012.

Sandip has already featured in this year IPL for Delhi Daredevils and also played in Caribbean Premier League for Montreal Tigers, He was the highest wicket-taker in last month's Asia Cup Qualification for Nepal, and Second in the overall competition. He took 14 wickets in 5 matches in Asia Cup Qualifier. He will also be featured in the first edition of Afghanistan Premier League for Nangarhar.
