In the quest to secure the spot on Icc World T20 Qualification in 2020, Nepal is in Malaysia playing ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier B. In the second match of ICC World Twenty20 regional qualifier, Nepal defeated Malaysia with eight wickets. Nepal's first game victory was about dominance while this game was about a comeback. The game was almost away from Nepal when Malaysia was at 2-75 but the brilliant comeback from Nepalese bowler restricted Malaysia to just 100 runs. Nepal easily chased the target of 101 runs losing 2 wickets.

The host Malaysia won the toss and elected to bat first. The host got the good start losing the first wicket at 30 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Shafiq Sharif scored brilliant 49 runs to take Malaysia to 75-2 at the end of the 11th over. Malaysia looked like going towards the big score but Nepalese youngster Lamichhane had other ideas. With his 5 wickets haul and Sompal Kami's 3 wickets, Nepal made a brilliant comeback to restrict Malaysia to only 100 runs in 19.3 overs. Captain Paras Khadka build the pressure bowling an economical spell of 14 runs in 4 overs and taking a wicket.

Chasing 101 runs, Nepal weak opening batting exposed once again. Nepal experimented with the new pair of Binod Bhandari and Anil Kumar Shah. Anil Kumar Shah managed to open his account facing six balls before getting caught out by Shafiq Sharif in the bowl of Syed Aziz. His counterpart Binod Bhandari scored 12 runs facing 12 balls. Syed Aziz caught him in the bowl of Pavandeep Singh in the 5th over which means Nepal lost both its opener at the score of 32 runs. Then Captain Parash Khadka and Vice-Captain Gyanendra Malla played responsibly to take Nepal home in 12.4 overs with another big win. Malla scored 27 runs off 24 balls while Khadka scored 52 runs off 37 balls. Sandeep Lamichhane was Man of the Match once again for his brilliant spell.

As it stands, Nepal is at third in the table behind Thailand and Singapore. On the 7th of October, Nepal will face the leader Thailand in its third match which is going to be another test for Nepal and a chance to advance to the top of the table. But how it seems now, Nepal should comfortably go to the next stage. After the defeat, the host Malaysia finds themselves in some trouble to qualify to the next round, but they have some easy game coming against Myanmar and China who are at the bottom of the table.
