Big Bash League(BBL) is an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket league and one of the most popular Twenty20 cricket tournament in the world. It is the eighth season of BBL which was established in 2011. For this year, BBL is going to start from the 19th of December and will end on 17th of February, 2019. A total of 8 teams are participating in this edition of BBL.
BBL will be played on the double round robin and the knockout stage format. Each team will play home and away matches with each other and the top teams will advance to knockout semifinals and finals The news for this year is traditional coin toss is replaced by bat flip with the captain picking flats or hills. $450,000 prize money is up for grab while the runner-up gets $260,000. Perth Scorchers is the most successful team having won 3 titles.
But all the focus of Nepalese Cricket fans will be on Melbourne Stars. Nepali leg Spinner Sandeep Lamichhane will be playing for Melbourne Stars for this edition which makes him the first Nepali player ever to play in the Big Bash League. Sandeep who trained in Australia in his early career had the biggest dream to play in Big Bash. He is currently busy with Everest Premier League (EPL), the biggest Twenty20 cricket tournament in Nepal. By now, Sandeep has played only two matches for his team Lalitpur Patriots and picked five wickets.
Sandeep is off to Australia now. Melbourne Stars are scheduled to play their first match against Sydney Thunders on December 21. After BBL, Sandeep will be playing for Bangladesh Premier League for team Syhlet Sixers. All the best Sandeep and Melbourne Stars for this BBL.
