Hello friends,

The second, India vs. New Zealand T20 match, has ended today in favour of India. The Indian team won the match with seven balls remaining in the inning. Thus both the teams are level in the three-match series at one match each. The third match of the series will thus be the deciding match.

The Kiwi captain Kane Williamson won the toss today and decided to bat first. The star performer of the previous match could not do much today. TL Seifert was out on 12 runs scored off twelve balls. Collin Munro also could score just as many runs. As the pressure mounted on the New Zealand team their captain Kane Williamson and Deryl Mitchell soon returned to the pavilion. After that Ross Taylor and Collin De Grandhomme played sensibly and brought some semblance of respectability to the New Zealand score. In the end, the New Zealand team managed to set India a target of 159 runs to win.

The Indian team started their inning well. Both the openers gave India a good start. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 50 runs off only 29 balls while Shikhar Dhawan, although he batted slowly, made 30 runs off 31 balls. After that Rishab Pant played a fine attacking inning. He went after the New Zealand bowlers and scored 40 runs off 28 balls. This inning should confirm his place in the next match. The Indian all-rounder, Vijay Shanker again failed to deliver the goods with the bat. It was when Dhoni came in at the fall of Vijay Shanker’s wicket that both Dhoni and Pant combined very well together. Both the players remained not out at the end of India’s allotted 20 overs.

Rishabh Pant needs a few more innings of the kind he played today to confirm his place in the Indian World Cup squad. He has a good chance to establish his place in the Indian team as the number one wicketkeeper-batsman. Krunal Pandya was the most successful bowler for India having bagged three wickets. Khaleel Ahmed got two wickets. Although Yazuvendra Chahal bowled well he did not get any wickets today. For the New Zealanders, Fergusson, Ish Sodhi and Mitchell got a wicket each.
