Suresh Raina who doesn't have a central contract with Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI)has suggested to allow not contracted players to ply their trade in leagues abroad.

The ban on Indian Cricket players for not being allowed to participate in any other T-20 leagues has been a growing concern. Many players who have already past their prime have requested the board to allow them to participate in the foreign leagues. This plea has been rejected by BCCI repeatedly.

Legends like Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag had to announce their retirement to get a go-ahead to participate in these leagues. Harbhajan Singh included his name in The Hundred draft only to withdraw later. The reason is, if he is contracted by any franchise in The Hundred, he has to forego his IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings. Yousuf Pathan was initially allowed to play in Hong Kong blitz but was later stopped for playing in the tournament.

The 48-year-old leg-spinning sensation, Pravin Tambe was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL auction for this edition. Later he was banned by IPL governing council to participate because he had played in the T-10 league held in Dubai. Though Tambe had some fruitful years in Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions franchise, he was largely underutilized by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Following year he was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise.

The actual concern is not for the players like Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Yousuf Pathan, etc...These players have already been associated with the national team for a prolonged duration of time and earned sufficient income to be secured for a lifetime. The concern is for players who are not in BCCI central contract throughout their life and are dependent on IPL or T-20 leagues for their survival. At the age of 48 there is no outside chance also that Tambe can come back and play for his national team. He cannot participate in the Ranji Team also.

Praveen Tambe taking 5 wickets in 7 balls including a hat-rick.The wickets he took were of legends like Chris Gayle, Eion Morgan and Kieron Pollard.

Hence, BCCI should put sufficient thought behind their policy strategy and allow players like Praveen Tambe to partake in leagues abroad. They should at least allow participating in two T-20 leagues. This way the players also can earn their bread and IPL can also safeguard its uniqueness.
