Lahore: Selectors are remembering of for forgotten Imad Wasim, Imad Wasim is also included in the 18 member squad for Asia cup.
The first match of Asian Cup will be played on 15 of September at UAE. Inzimam ul Haq along with his selection committee, Coach Mickey Arthur and Captain Sarfaraz Ahmad took a decision to select 18 players for training camp along ahead of Asia cup.
Earlier this year in February during PSL injured Imad Wasim, who has been away from international cricket since then, has also been included in the 18 member squad for training camp.
After playing a ODI match against Sri Lanka in October last year, Imad Wasim could not play an International match and was injured while captaining the PSL franchise Karachi Kings. After that because of his bad behavior he was neglected, after the T20I triangular series in Zimbabwe he was also not taken into consideration for one day matches.
Imad Wasim was seen in action recently while playing in Carrabian premier league for Jamaica thailaivas. A very strange move is taken by the selectors as they have included a test specialist Shaan Masood in the 18 member squad. The opener has scored 565 runs in 12 test matches at the average of 23.54 and is yet to make his ODI debut.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has also been called up in the training camp.He is waiting for his entry in one day cricket team while he has already played three T20i matches but it is difficult for him to make away into the final team. Mohammad Hafeez's name is also included in the probables.
After not playing a single one day match in Zimbabwe tour, the all-rounder is having a tough time. After his demotion in central contract and after his little protest , Mohamad Hafeez finds it difficult to make it to the final list and is now on the back foot. During the Zimbabwe tour , Yasir Shah who was tested during this tour will be out of the team.
The training camp includes players , Sarfaraz Ahmad, Shaan Masood, Imam ul Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoib Malik, Haris Suhail, Asif Ali, Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Waseem, Hassan Ali, Usman KhAn Shinwari, Mohammad Amir, Junaid Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Faheem Ashraf.
While on the other side the one day and test players' conditioning camp was finished just few days ago. After coming back this Friday the players will have to report to the training camp , where they will be trained for 3 to 10 September at Lahore. In NCA and Gadafi Stadium, the players will concentrate on batting , bowling and fielding. There will be a fitness test taken just before the training starts.
