Australia have called on wicketkeeper-batsman Ben McDermott for the remaining two one-day internationals against South Africa.

23-year-old McDermott is the son of Australian former star fast bowler and current national coach Craig McDermott. His debut in the three-match series is now a matter of time. Already, South Africa's tourists are ahead by 1-0 in the series, winning the first ODI by six wickets.Because of injury, Shaun Marsh has not yet fully recovered, Cricket Australia has decided to take McDermott in the four-match match.

Australia's national selector Trevor Houns said in a statement: "The Australian selectors have decided to take Ben McDermott to the squad ahead of Hobart's third match in the second and two days on the Adelaide Oval on Friday. If Marsh can not recover before the second one-dayer, then Ben's match is almost certain. We are constantly monitoring the progress of the Marsh. In front of the match, all the opportunities will be open before him.
