POLITICAL CARRIER

I have seen good players doing coaching and remain attached to the game after their retirement. Imran Khan did a different Job and entered in the field of politics some 22 years before and founded his own political party PTI Pakistan Tehreeke Insaaf party.

In 1997 he contested on two seats and was defeated on both seats. Khan supported General Pervez Musharraf's military coup in 1999, believing Musharraf would "end corruption.

The 2002 Pakistani general election in October across 272 constituencies, Khan participated in the elections and was prepared to form a coalition if his party did not get a majority of the vote.

From the day his political strength in the country got stronger and stronger and in the 2018 elections it was Imran khan wave in the whole country.

Mr Khan looks to be the next prime minister. But his victory is far from sportsmanlike, in as tainted and perilously disputed an election as this one.

The doubts were long there. The outgoing majority party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), had warned that the army was “engineering” a victory for Mr Khan. The claim was echoed by civil-rights groups, the press and rival parties. The visas of an EU election-monitoring team were mysteriously delayed. Yet few expected widespread ballot-fixing, as in the days when generals used to stuff ballot-boxes full as sandbags.
