Sports players throughout the world are provided decent salaries in addition to the love and respect they get from their fans. Some of them are provided huge amounts of money that takes them in the list of richest persons of the world too.

If we take a look at the highest paid athletes of the world, the list is topped by Mayweather with a total of 285 million American dollars. Interestingly there is no women in the top 100 athletes and no Australian player from any sport.

The cricketing sensation and the player who is playing with the heads of cricket fans in India is none other than king KOHLI, Virat Kohli is the only Indian and only cricket player in the list of top highest paid athletes of the world.

Virat Kohli is the highest paid athlete in India with estimated earnings of US$22m. Among the top 100 highest paid athletes Virat Kohli is at the 89th position.

Among the top 10 highest paid athletes of the world majority of the positions are conquered by the football players like, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.

Apart from the match fee and the money Kohli gets from playing IPL and other leagues most of the money is earned from the sponsors like Oakley, Uber, Puma, Audi, New Era, Tissot, Colgate-Palmolive, Herbalife and Pepsi.

Kohli's earnings look impressive but he is still a little behind the man he replaced as Indian captain, yes you got it right Mahender Singh Dhoni who was listed at No. 22 in the top 100 rankings in year 2014 with an annual earnings of $US30 million. But that does not look far behind as we see the growing fan following and offers by the sponsors for king KOHLI.

Since Virat recently got married with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma if we add her earnings with Kohli then he is far ahead from Ms Dhoni.

Virat and Anushka both have their own business ventures, Anushka owns a production house and Virat has a chain of gyms called chisel, in addition to that he is the co-owner of UAE Royals, a tennis team from Dubai.
