Men in Blue register nine-wicket win in fifth ODI on Thursday

India added another series victory over West Indies at Thiruvananthapuram

Ravindra Jadeja produced an outstanding spell as India thrashed West Indies in the fifth ODI to clinch the five-match series with a 3-1 margin in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

The day started with the visitors, who were 2-1 down in the series and were hoping for a positive result on the venue where the first one-day international was played, winning the toss and opting to bat first.

The decision proved a disastrous one as the Caribbean giants never really get going in tough batting conditions and were eventually bowled out for just 104 in 31.5 overs.

Captain Jason Holder finished the innings with the top score of 25 off 33 balls with the help of two fours. He was well-supported by veteran all-rounder Marlon Samuels, who scored 24 off 38 balls with the help of three fours and one six.

Apart from Holder and Samuels, only Rovman Powell managed to register score in double figures and scored 16 off 39 balls with the help of a solitary boundary.

For India, Jadeja was the real star of the show as he claimed four wickets and just gave away 34 runs in 9.5 overs.

He was well supported by pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Khalil Ahmed, who claimed two wickets each and gave away 11, 29 respectively.

Chasing the target of just 105 was never going to be tough task for such a strong batting line of the Indian team and so it proved to be as the home side reached the target in just 14.5 overs at the expense of one wicket.

Opener Rohit Sharma finished the innings with the top score of unbeaten 63 off 56 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes, whereas captain Virat Kohli finished with 33 not out off 29 balls with the help of six fours.

For West Indies, pacer Oshane Thomas was the only successful bowler as he claimed one wicket.

For his brilliant bowling performance, Jadeja was named player of the match whereas India skipper Kohli was named player of the series for scoring three centuries in five innings.
