Bangladesh posted their highest total in ODIs and defeated South Africa in their first encounter of this World Cup. Bangladesh was considered a team that was in the ICC tournaments, but never gave a fight. But that was till 2007.....

India vs Bangladesh, 2007

India won the toss and chose to bat. Except Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh, other batsmen failed to make respectable score and India fell for 191. Bangladesh in return chased the total with Mushfiqur, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan posting fifty plus scores and virtually knocked India out of the competition.

Bangladesh vs England, 2011

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field. England were restricted to a score of 225. Bangladesh started well, with Tamim Iqbal scoring a fifty. But once he was run out, the Tigers collapsed from 155/4 to 169/8. It seemed impossible, but not quite. Mahmudullah and Shafiul Islam put up a spirited and well fought half century partnership, making their team sail through.

Bangladesh vs England, 2015

England won the toss and elected to field first. Bangladesh put up a total of 275 with a century from Mahmudullah and 89 from Mushfiqur. England began their chase, however with half centuries from Jos Buttler and Ian Bell. The Tigers bowled wonderfully, led by Rubel Hossain who picked 4 wickets. England fell 15 runs short and were knocked out of the Tournament.

This time, they have beaten South Africa. Will it prove costly for the Proteas?

Time will answer...
