U-19 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament 2018 is going to start from today. Nepal’s U-19 is in the tight group with India U-19, Afghanistan U-19, and UAE U-19 team in the Group A. But I think Nepal has an excellent chance to advance to the next stage of this competition.
Nepal’s U-19 will be without their marquee player Sandeep Lamichhane. In the next month, Nepal’s Senior cricket team is going to play the ICC T-20 World Cup Regional Qualifier so that Sandeep will miss this U-19 Asia Cup Tournament. But another senior team and U-19’s important player Rohit Kumar Poudel is back in the team. He is the most experienced U-19’s middle-order batsman from Nepal. Ashif Sheikh will lead the Nepali team in this tournament.

My Predictions
The group is tough, but if Nepal manages to win two matches, they can advance to the next stage. I think it’s hard for Nepal u-19’s to defeat India U-19’s. Some weeks ago BCCI organized the series between Nepal, India and Afghanistan U-19 teams. In that tournament, Nepal and Afghanistan lose to Indian teams despite good performance. And Nepal and Afghanistan won 1 match each against each other. Back in 2017, U-19 Asia Cup Nepal has defeated India U-19 by 19 runs, which was a historic win for them.
In my view, India U-19 will advance to the next stage as a winner of the group. UAE U-19’s have very few chances. And the match between Nepal U-19’s and Afghanistan U-19’s can be the most important match. The winner from this game can advance to the next stage as a runner-up. It’s hard to predict, but as a Nepali Cricket Fan, I hope to see Nepal U-19 team winning this match.
