The left-handed seam bowler was a part of the Perth Scorchers and was one of the key player for the team. Johnson feels that the pressure of BBL is too much for him and he wont be a part of the upcoming season. Johnson was one of the lead bowlers for the Scorchers and his heroic spell has crunched many games for his team.

In a recent interview to the West Australian newspaper, Johnson's manager told that the intensity and the length of BBL is too much for a 37-year-old. He further told that Mitchell will be featuring in the Emirates tournament in Dubai but that is half the length of the BBL.
