One of the most popular cricketers in the world, Not just in Pakistan, Afridi is popular throughout the world and recieved a lot of love and respect here in India. 

Making his debut at the age of 16, Afridi captured the imagination of the world when he burst onto the scene and smashed a 36-ball hundred in his maiden innings in one-day internationals.

Playing just 27 Tests for Pakistan, Afridi amassed 1716 runs at 36.51 with five hundreds and 8 fifties while he also took 48 wickets at 35.60 with one five-wicket haul. He didn't taste much success in the longest format because his game was more suited for limited-overs cricket.

Afridi played 398 ODIs between 1996 and 2015 smashing 8064 runs at an average of 23.57 with six hundreds and a staggering strike rate of 117, which is the third highest in the game's history. He also took 395 wickets at 34.51 with 9 five-wicket hauls.In 98 T20Is he scored 1405 runs at 18.01 with four fifties and 97 wickets. He is the only played to score over 1000 runs and take more than 50 wickets in the format.

Afridi earned the nickname of 'Boom Boom' due to his explosive batting style. In ODIs, he holds the record for smashing 351 sixes which is head and shoulders above the rest. His game attracted fans even from across the border and he is till date one of the most loved Pakistani cricketers in India.
