In the final of the Division 2 held between Oman and Namibia, Namibia won the match. The final of the tournament was given the status of ODI match. The home team Namibia won the toss and thet batted first in the final. A total of 226 runs with the loss of 7 wickets was made on the board in 50 overs. Chasing the target, Oman could only make 81 runs before they were dismissed in 29 overs. Namibia won the match by 145 runs. Jan Frylinck took 5 wickets against Oman ans Jonathan Smit also took 3 wickets. Karl Birkenstock made 61 runs for Namibia. In the league matches, Oman won 4 matches to top the table and to reach in the final. They had 8 points in their name. On the other hand, Namibia was second, USA was third and PNG was fourth in the table. Canada and Hongkong were unlucky to miss the ODI status. The table is shown in this post above.
In the match played for the 3rd spot, PNG defeated USA by 5 wickets. USA made 164 runs. In reply, PNG reached the target in 33 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. Vanua took 4 wickets and Siaka made 62 runs for PNG. This match was also an official ODI match.
In the match played for 5th spot, Canada defeated HongKong by 5 wickets. HongKong made 113 runs in the board. Canada chased the target in 16.5 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. Jafer took 4 wickets for Canada, while Patel made 50 runs and took 2 wickets. He was the man of the match. Both these teams missed the chance to get ODI status for next few years.
Oman, Namibia, USA and PNG were the top four teams after the matches of group stages. These 4 teams are awarded the ODI status. A year ago, Nepal, UAE and Scotland has already got the ODI status from World Cup selection matches. Now, England, India, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies, Srilanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, UAE, Namibia, PNG, USA and Oman are the countries with International One Day Cricket status.
Top 4 teams from Division 2 and Nepal, Scotland and UAE will play ICC World Cup League - 2 tournament. On the other hand, Canada and HongKong will participate ICC Cricket World cup Challenge tournament. The seven nations who will participate in ICC World cup League - 2 tournament will start from July 2019 to 2021. A team will play 36 matches in total. A total of 126 matches will be played. The top 3 teams in this tournament will be selected to play ICC World Cup selection tournament in 2022. Unfortunately, if any team falls in bottom 4 then they should play world cup selection play off tournament where they should be among the top 2 team to be selected for the world cup selection tournament in 2022.
There will be only 10 teams in the World Cup Cricket 2023. The World Cup qualifier tournament will be held between bottom 5 test teams, top 3 teams from World Cup League - 2 tournament and top 2 teams from World Cup Qualifier playoff. A total of 10 teams will participate in this tournament and only the top 2 teams will move forward to the World Cup 2023 event.
