Unlucky Players who were not selected for the Cricket World Cup 2019 - Part 1
Cricket World Cup 2019 is going to start from May 30 to July 10 in England and Wales. This is the 12th World Cup Cricket. 10 teams will be participating in the tournament. There is less than a moth to start this tournament and all the teams have announced their Top 15 members who will play in the world cup. Some of the unexpected players are there in the world cup while there are players who are not in the squad even after their good performance in the recent times. It a different thing that they can replace these players before the start of the world cup without any permission from the ICC upto 7 days before the start of the world cup. After that period, players can be changed only on special circumstance by taking permission from the ICC. Among the unselected players, here are the top 6 players who were expected to be selected for their team before the announcement of their team.Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan) Source Sarfaraz Ahmed will represent the captain of Pakistan who is a wicketkeeper as well. In his replacement, there is no other wicket keeper in the squad, so Rizwan was expected to be their in the top 15 list. He has already played as a wicket keeper for Pakistan in absence of Sarfaraz. He had played 32 ODIs with a batting average of 33.57 with more than 700 runs under his name. 26 years old Rizwan was 2 years away from cricket but he made a good comeback in 2017, in the 5 match series Vs. Australia, Pakistan had lost all the match but still he managed to score 2 century for Pakistan. 2. Niroshan Dickwella (Srilanka) Source He has also played as a wicketkeeper for Srilanka. Niroshan is aggressive with his bat in the field. There re major changes in the Srilankan team with Dimuth Karunaratne as the captain of the side, who had captained the team in 2015. It was surprising to see Niroshan out of the world cup. He has made 497 runs in last 15 matches for Srilanka. After the humiliating defeat from South Africa, the team management take steps to remove him from the world cup. 3. Rishav Pant (India) Source He did not had much experience of international cricket but he was one of the main contenders to be there in the world cup. He is an aggressive batsman who can play big shots for India. In his place, Dinesh Karthik was selected who had made a debut in 2004 because of his experience. The selectors said that Rishav will get chances in the future as well. Rishav is just 21 and has played 5 ODIs for his country. He has also scored a test hundred in England. 4. Ambati Rayudu (India) Source He was one of the most expected player for India after Rishav Pant. 7 months ago, Virat Kohli had made a statement that Rayudu will play in the 4th spot in the batting lineup in the world cup during the West Indies series. After the involvement in the coffee with Karan case, Vijay Shankar got the chance. He performed well in all the 3 departments of the game so the selectors prreferred him instead of Rayudu in the world cup. Rayudu has also been performing well after the comeback in the team in 2018. He made 4 half century, 1 century as well as 2 scores above than 40 for India after the comeback in the team. 5. Dinesh Chandimal (Srilanka) Source He made an debut in the team in 2010. There were major changes in the team and he could not make it. In 2018, he has an batting average of 42.57. He has also captained the side for few period. He has played 146 ODIs for Srilanka. Srilanka lost the experience of good wicketkeeper as well as batsman from the initial squad. This was an unexpected move from the selectors. 6. Jofra Archer (England) Source He had played U-19 World Cup in the West Indies. He is struggling a lot to show his performance to be in the playing 11 in national side. He has performed well in the T20 leagues that is being held across different places. He troubles the batsman in the death overs. He has completed all the formality to be played for the England team. He still has got a chance to play from the England side. He has to perform well against Ireland and Pakistan as expected to be selected for the team. Apart from these players, there are several other players as well who got unlucky in the selection process. I cannot write about everyone but will list few players in one of my next post soon.
